Colette & Ciarán : A true love story

I knew from the moment I first spoke to Colette and Ciaran they were a special couple. Laughing and joking, giving each other as good as they got and most importantly flirting! I knew these two were as in love as it gets, and telling their story would be stunning!

Colette and Ciarán chose the stunning Moyvalley Hotel in Kildare as their wedding venue - for an Irish wedding videographer it doesn’t get much better than this! The venue is gorgeous, and the staff led by Wedding Co-ordinator Niamh Reilly are incredibly attentive.

The ceremony itself took place in the Stone House which was beautifully decorated by Finesse Flowers Kildare and was officiated by the lovely Rev. Shelley O’Shea. She was charming and warm, and told lovely stories of her time with the happy couple. Colette walked down the aisle with her mum and looked absolutely radiant in her dress from The Bridal Outlet, proceeded by her beautiful bridal party dressed in TFNC London dresses. Lorraine Browne and Robyn Byrne had her hair and makeup looking flawless and Ciarán got a little emotional waiting for her by the altar in his Monza Menswear suit - something a cinematic wedding videographer like me loves to see!

The wedding reception was held in Balyna House on the grounds and was absolutely gorgeous. Balyna House is a 19th Century mansion and they and their guests enjoyed the entire mansion to themselves for the evening. The speeches were rounded out by an emotional video message from Ciarán’s brother in Boston.

Panic Animal got everyone up and moving, giving myself and photographer Rob Kennedy plenty to capture!

Our 5 most popular wedding venues for 2022/23

It’s been a manic year for weddings bookings at Symmetry Wedding Video, and with 2022 being fully booked since September last year and 2023 already filling up fast I’m going to be seeing many of the country’s finest wedding venues once again!

These are the 5 most popular venues that my couples have chosen for the 22/23 season and why YOU should choose them!

5. Kilronan Castle, Roscommon

Set on 40 beautiful acres, Kilronan Castle has a really magical feel to it. It sits on the banks of Lough Meelagh which will guarantee stunning, dramatic photo and video opportunities! The stone walls, gothic doorways and candlelit halls give Kilronan Castle a real Game of Thrones feel - who doesn’t want to wander around a castle on their wedding day??

The Banquet hall is luxurious and well-furnished, and the staff are attentive and really can’t do enough to make your special day as perfect as it deserves to be. Click on the photo above to take you to the Kilronan Castle website!

4. City Hall, Dublin

Construction started on city hall over 250 years ago in 1769 - every brick in this monument is soaked in history and you can feel it the moment you step inside. The staff are as amazing as you’d expect from a venue with this much prestige behind it, with Ray in particular being incredible at putting each couple at ease.

The venue itself isn’t huge but there are some truly spectacular rooms and matched with the right coverage team you’d have breathtaking memories to look back on. Dublin City centre itself is a treasure trove of really cool spots to have photo/video taken - if you’ve got a videographer who knows them all, that is ;)

3. Lough Rynn Castle, Leitrim

Lough Rynn Castle Hotel is one of my favourite venues to shoot at - from a videography standpoint it’s got it all. The perfectly symmetrical manicured gardens, the grand, flowing lawns, the fairytale tower overlooking Lough Rynn itself are all amazing opportunities for me to create magic with you guys!

The venue itself is a maze of cozy log fires and furniture you just sink beautifully into, while the banquet hall is bright, spacious and at the same time not too spread out. The staff and co-ordinators are the cherry on top for why Lough Rynn has been voted best castle wedding venue in Ireland.

2. Cabra Castle, Cavan

Continuing the castle theme, Cabra Castle is set on 100 incredible acres of wedding fairytale on the edge of Dún a Rí Forest Park. The decor is unique and breathtaking, and the wedding coordination team are complete professionals. And if you’re a dog lover like I am, you’ll absolutely adore the castle’s resident pooch - a beautiful wolfhound named Claddagh!

  1. Slieve Russell Hotel, Cavan

The Slieve Russell Hotel is a 4 star golf and country club is MASSIVE - set on 300 acres (50 of which are lakes!) It has multiple ballrooms to choose from, lots of lounge space for your reception and the staff are just impeccable - every wedding I’ve attended there has just run like clockwork.

We are spoilt for choice for wedding venues in Ireland - there’s something for every size, budget and taste, but if you’re looking for a truly creative, fun and professional wedding film there’s only one choice!
